What would I be doing?
Teaching English as well as American culture to Chinese students in or/and outside US from elementary school to college.
It’s no doubt that understanding the similarities and differences between America and China is vital important . You can help make the world a better place by teaching the young Chinese English and by showing them a different culture.
By teaching English to the students already in America, you’ll help them adjust to living in the United States. By teaching English to students who cannot afford traveling abroad, especially, some are from rural areas where there are no real English teachers, you’ll definitely change their lives by giving them the educational opportunity which usually only be given to city and wealthy kids.
What Qualifications do I need?
Fluency in English
Sensitivity to cultural differences
Patience, understanding, flexibility and a positive attitude
No previous teaching experience required!
Do I need to prepare teaching materials?
We encourage you to prepare some teaching materials, but if you don’t have time. We’ll provide you with all the necessary teaching materials.
What’s the time commitment?
The time of teaching varies in different programs. Usually, a commitment of 1 hour to 6 hours per week is needed.
If you feel that you cannot make the time commitment but would still like to help, we kindly suggest that you consider making a monetary donation.
Where would I be teaching?
You can choose to teach English face to face to a group of students in Princeton, NJ, or online at home, to students outside US (we are focusing on students in China so far, but plan to extend to other countries). We will match you to a day, time, and location convenient for you!
